Connect your broker (auto-sync your holdings)

Skip the CSV: connect a supported broker and Moneyta pulls your holdings and activity automatically, keeps them in sync daily, and reconciles them against the trades you record. Here's how to connect during setup, choose which accounts sync, and add more accounts or brokers later.

  1. 1

During onboarding: choose “Connect your broker”

On the first setup step (“Add your holdings”), pick the ⚡ Connect your broker card instead of importing a file. You'll see the brokers that are verified for instant connect, then choose yours, accept the short read-only beta agreement, and continue. Don't see your broker? Import a file to finish setup now; you can request your broker anytime later from Connections.

  2. 2

Sign in at your broker (we never see your password)

Your broker's own secure sign-in opens in a small window on top of Moneyta. You authenticate directly with the broker; Moneyta never sees your username or password, and the connection is read-only: it can never trade or move money. When you finish, the window closes and you're back in setup.

  3. 3

    Choose which accounts to sync

One broker login often exposes several accounts (Individual, Roth IRA, Joint, Traditional IRA…). Moneyta lists them all, so pick which to sync, and each becomes its own Moneyta portfolio. Accounts are kept separate and never merged, so your taxable and retirement tax views stay accurate. Skip any you don't want; you can map them later. Then Moneyta pulls each account's holdings and starts your dashboard.

  4. 4

How your holdings are valued and kept fresh

After you connect, Moneyta imports your positions (and available activity history) and prices everything with its own end-of-day data, and it never pulls prices from your broker. From then on it syncs once a day automatically. You can also press “Sync now” on the Connections page for an immediate refresh (rate-limited).

  5. 5

Add more accounts or brokers later

Open Connections from the left sidebar anytime. To map another account from a broker you've already connected, or to connect an additional broker, use “Add another broker” / the connect flow there. It's the same choose-accounts step you saw during setup, and each new account becomes its own portfolio. Your existing connections and their sync history stay intact.

  6. 6

Request a broker that isn't verified yet

If your broker isn't on the verified list yet, request it from Connections: pick it, accept the beta agreement, and you'll be added to the review queue (we email you when you're in). Meanwhile, keep your books current by importing a file, and you can connect the broker later without redoing anything.

  7. 7

Reconnect, disconnect, and your audit trail

If your broker session expires (a password change, MFA, or the broker's own timeout), Moneyta marks the connection “needs reconnect” and prompts you, and reconnecting takes seconds and never creates duplicates. You can disconnect any broker or account at any time; disconnecting stops syncing and frees the connection, but never touches your real broker account (it's read-only). Every connect and disconnect is kept in a timeline on the Connections page so you always have the history.

  8. 8

    Recording a trade and reconciliation

Placed a trade at your broker? Record it in Moneyta (for example from the What-If evaluator's “Record this trade”) and the next sync matches it to your broker's version. An exact match is confirmed automatically with no double-counting; a close-but-not-exact match is surfaced on the Reconciliation page for you to confirm (“same trade”) or keep both. Moneyta never guesses on your books.

Read-only & your credentials never touch Moneyta: Broker connections are read-only, so Moneyta can never place trades or move money. You sign in on your broker's own page through our aggregator (SnapTrade), so Moneyta never sees your broker password, and a full Moneyta breach could never log into or trade your brokerage account. Broker sync is in limited private beta; verified brokers connect instantly, others are added by request.
