Moneyta for Claude & ChatGPT: the full connector guide
Everything about Moneyta's read-only MCP connector, what it does, how to connect Claude or ChatGPT, the tools and one-click skills, plans and credits, troubleshooting, and privacy.
- 1
What the Moneyta connector is
Moneyta is a remote MCP connector that lets Claude and ChatGPT read your own Moneyta data so you can ask about your money in plain language. It is strictly read-only: it can read and explain, but it can never place a trade, move or withdraw money, change your holdings, or delete anything. Your PIN-encrypted Vault is never exposed through the connector. The server lives at https://mcp.moneyta.co/mcp (streamable HTTP, OAuth-protected).
- 2
Before you connect
You need (1) a Moneyta account (a free 7-day trial works; paid plans are Bronze through Diamond) and (2) an assistant plan that supports custom connectors: Claude Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise; or ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, or Enterprise with Developer mode. Moneyta is US-market focused (US securities, USD). No developer setup, API key, or custom URL is required, you only sign in.
- 3
Connect your assistant
Claude and ChatGPT are set up independently. Connect whichever you use. You only do this once per assistant, and you can disconnect any time.
Claude
Go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector and enter https://mcp.moneyta.co/mcp. Click Connect, sign in with your Moneyta account in the window that opens, and approve the consent screen. Claude registers automatically (dynamic client registration), no client ID or secret needed. On Team/Enterprise, an org owner adds the connector under Admin settings first, then members click Connect.
ChatGPT
Under Settings → Connectors → Advanced, turn on Developer mode. Then add a custom connector with the URL https://mcp.moneyta.co/mcp, choose OAuth, and Connect, sign in with your Moneyta account and approve access.

What you can ask, the tools
Account & portfolios: account & plan, portfolio summary, list holdings. Health & analysis: portfolio health (score, grade, observations), run a fresh analysis, explain an observation. Risk & performance (Gold): correlation summary, quant metrics (volatility, Sharpe/Sortino, beta), allocation drift. Net worth & assets: net worth, net-worth history, properties & vehicles. Activity & money: activity feed (dividends, realized gains, fund fees, corporate actions, expenses), cash flow, annual income & expense report by tax bucket. Markets & alerts: price history, alerts. What-if: evaluate a trade idea before you act.
- 5
One-click skills
Both assistants surface Moneyta's built-in prompts as ready-to-run starting points, e.g. "Portfolio checkup", "What changed this week", "What moved my net worth?", "True cost of ownership", "Where are my fees going?", "Year-end tax summary", and "Realized gains this year". Pick one and the assistant runs the right sequence of tools for you.
- 6
Inline cards
On hosts that render MCP App UI, net worth and portfolio health come back as compact inline cards (total + per-class breakdown; score, grade, and top observations) with an "Open in Moneyta" link. If your host doesn't render inline cards, the same numbers are in the assistant's text reply, nothing is lost.
- 7
Plans and credits
Most tools work on every plan; correlation and quant metrics need Gold or higher. A few actions spend a usage credit, running a fresh analysis, evaluating a trade idea, or generating an AI-written explanation, and your assistant will ask you to confirm before using one. Everything else is a normal read.

Troubleshooting & self-serve fixes
Most issues are sign-in or plan related. Try these first:
It won't connect / sign-in loops
Make sure you're signing in with the Moneyta account you actually use, and that pop-ups aren't blocked. Remove the connector and re-add https://mcp.moneyta.co/mcp, then complete the sign-in window fully (including the approve step).
"An active subscription is required"
Your Moneyta plan has lapsed or isn't finished setting up. Open moneyta.co, resubscribe or finish onboarding, then retry, the connector picks up your current plan automatically. Invite-code beta and admin accounts are exempt from this gate.
A card won't render / "unsupported UI"
Your assistant may not support inline MCP App cards, but the same data is always in the text reply, and you can open moneyta.co for the full visual. If it persists in a host that does support cards, disconnect and reconnect to refresh the connector.
A tool says it needs a higher plan
Correlation and quant metrics are Gold-tier. Upgrade from your Account page, then ask again. For the full correlation matrix and ETF look-through, open moneyta.co.
Disconnect / revoke
Remove the connector from your assistant's connector settings, or revoke access from Moneyta under Account → authentication settings. Access stops immediately.
- 9
Privacy, security & data handling
Access is read-only, scoped to the signed-in user, and only runs when you ask. Connections are encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) and authenticated with OAuth 2.0. The connector stores no copy of your financial data, it returns trimmed, request-scoped results. For AI-written explanations (explaining an observation, evaluating an idea, narrated insights), your portfolio context is sent to OpenAI on Moneyta's backend to generate the narration. Your PIN-encrypted Vault is never sent through the connector, and we never sell your data. See moneyta.co/privacy for the full policy.
