Set up & manage your Vault PIN
Your Vault encrypts valuables (jewelry, metals, watches, art) with a PIN only you know. Here's how to set it up, change it, and recover access if you ever forget it.
- 1
Set your PIN
Open Vault and choose Set up. Pick a 6-digit PIN or a longer passphrase and enter it twice, then acknowledge the encryption notice and select Create Vault. Your PIN is never stored; it's what mathematically unlocks your items, so only you can open them. If you ever forget it, you can recover access with a one-time code emailed to you (see the last step).
- 2
Unlock and lock
Each session, enter your PIN to unlock the Vault. Your valuables are only readable while it's unlocked and are only included in net worth then. Lock it anytime with “Lock now” from the Vault security panel.
- 3
Change your PIN
In Vault → Security, choose Change PIN. Enter your current PIN, then your new 6-digit PIN or passphrase twice. Moneyta re-wraps your encryption key under the new PIN, so your items are never re-encrypted. It's instant and your valuables stay intact.
- 4
Forgot your PIN? Recover access
In Vault → Security, choose “Forgot your PIN?”. Moneyta emails a one-time recovery code; enter it, then set a brand-new PIN. Behind the scenes we re-wrap your encryption key under the new PIN via a secure recovery escrow, so your valuables are preserved.
