Moneyta Is Now Free to Start

We used to ask for a credit card before you had seen a single number. That was the wrong order, and we changed it. Moneyta now has a permanent Free plan: no card, no trial clock. Here is exactly what it includes, what the paid plans add, and how we make money.

Two columns under the heading We changed the order. On the left, labelled Before: create an account, enter a credit card, a seven day clock starts, then see your portfolio, footed with Pay before you look. On the right, labelled Now and badged Free plan: create an account, paste your holdings, see your health score, upgrade only if you want more, footed with No credit card required.
The short version: Moneyta has a permanent Free plan. No credit card, no trial countdown, no card on file waiting to charge you. Paste your holdings, get a health score and Goodwin's top observations, set alerts, follow companies and managers, keep an activity ledger, and export everything whenever you like. Paid plans add brokerage sync, the research desk and the books. If you never upgrade, that is fine with us.

For most of this year, signing up for Moneyta meant handing over a credit card before you had seen a single number about your own portfolio. There was a seven day clock, and at the end of it we charged you. We told ourselves that was normal, because it is: a lot of software works that way.

Then we watched what people actually did. They arrived, they read the page, they reached the card form, and they left. Not because the product was wrong, but because we had asked for something before we had shown anything. You cannot judge a portfolio tool from a marketing page. You judge it by pointing it at your own holdings and seeing whether what comes back is true and useful.

So we changed the order. You look first. You pay later, or never.

What the Free plan includes

Free is not a demo and it is not a countdown. It is a real account that keeps working:

  • One portfolio, up to 25 holdings. Type them, paste them from anywhere, or upload a CSV.
  • A portfolio health score with a grade, recomputed as your holdings change.
  • Goodwin's top three observations about what your portfolio actually looks like: where you are concentrated, what moves together, what is quietly doing the work.
  • Three alerts, so you hear about a change without watching a screen.
  • Follow up to five companies or fund managers and see what their filings said.
  • The activity ledger: dividends, fees and realized gains in one plain timeline.
  • The Idea Pad: write down a call before you make it, so future you can read what past you was thinking.
  • A weekly digest by email, and target allocation with a headline drift reading.
  • Your data, exportable or deletable at any time. That one is on every plan by design, including this one.
Insight, not advice: Moneyta describes what your portfolio looks like. It is an analytics tool, not a registered investment advisor, and nothing it says is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything. That is true on every plan, paid or not.

What the paid plans add

The paid plans are where the things that cost us real money live, and where the deeper work happens. Silver adds brokerage sync, so your holdings update themselves instead of being retyped after every trade. It opens the AI research desk, the look through into what your funds actually hold, trend detection across your own history, alert tuning, and the places you keep the rest of your net worth: property, vehicles, insurance and the PIN encrypted Vault.

Gold adds the books. Transactions with tax lots, a real double entry ledger, financial statements, the tax hub, shadow books against managers you follow, and the full research terminal with the smart money intelligence on top of public filings.

If it is free, am I the product?

No, and the answer is boring on purpose. Paid plans fund Moneyta. We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers, and there are no ads anywhere in the product. Our privacy policy says so in plain language, and the subprocessor list names the categories of company we rely on to run the service.

The honest economics: a Free account costs us something (prices, storage, the occasional analysis), and a small share of people who find Moneyta useful will want brokerage sync or the research desk and will upgrade. That is the whole model. It only works if Free is genuinely useful, which is why we did not make it a crippled tour.

What happens to your data if you stop paying

Nothing is deleted. If you cancel a paid plan, your account moves to Free. Everything you entered stays: your portfolio, your idea history, your property, your Vault, your alerts. Anything above the Free limits stays viewable, and you simply cannot add more until you upgrade again. You can still unlock your Vault, still read it, still export it, still delete it. We think a plan lapse should cost you features, never your records.

A few honest notes

  • Free has no time limit today. We are not going to promise it will never change, because nobody can promise that truthfully. What we can promise is notice before we reduce what a Free account can do.
  • There is no trial on the paid plans any more. Free is the trial, for as long as you want it. If you upgrade, you are charged that day and you can cancel any time.
  • Beta members with an invite code still get 60 days of Gold with no payment method. When it ends, the account continues on Free instead of locking.
  • Moneyta is still young. You will find rough edges. Telling us about them is the most useful thing you can do.

Start with your own numbers

The fastest way to know whether any of this is worth your time is to paste in what you own and read what comes back. It takes about a minute and it does not ask for a card.

Frequently asked questions

Is Moneyta really free?

Yes. Moneyta has a permanent Free plan that costs nothing and needs no credit card. It includes one portfolio of up to 25 holdings, a portfolio health score, the top three observations about your portfolio, three alerts, five follows, an activity ledger and a weekly digest. Paid plans (Silver and Gold) add more.

Do I need a credit card to sign up for Moneyta?

No. You create a Moneyta account with an email address. A payment method is only requested if you choose to upgrade to a paid plan.

How does Moneyta make money if the Free plan costs nothing?

Paid plans fund Moneyta. It does not sell user data, does not share data with advertisers or data brokers, and shows no ads on any plan.

What happens to my data if I cancel a paid Moneyta plan?

The account moves to the Free plan and the data is kept. Anything above the Free plan limits stays viewable but cannot be added to until the account is upgraded again. Data is only permanently deleted when the account owner deletes their account.

Is there a free trial of the paid plans?

There is no trial period on the paid plans. The Free plan is the way to evaluate Moneyta, for as long as you like. Paid plans are billed when you subscribe and can be cancelled at any time.

A note on what Moneyta is: Moneyta provides educational analytics about your portfolio's structure: insight, not advice. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy or sell any security. All screenshots show synthetic demo data.
