Sample portfolio: VTI 60%, VXUS 30%, BND 10%, for a 30-year-old
Index-investor 91
Cost: 0.60 × 0.03% + 0.30 × 0.05% + 0.10 × 0.03% = 0.036% a year, under the 0.05% line, so 100. See all the steps
Questions
- Are the index-investor and MPT scores free?
- Yes. Both are free on every Moneyta plan, including Free, with the full step-by-step calculation and a downloadable spreadsheet of every input.
- Is the index-investor score from the Bogleheads® community?
- No. It is Moneyta's own score. Its checklist is inspired by the Bogleheads® investment philosophy (low costs, broad index funds, a chosen allocation, few trades, simplicity and tax-aware placement), measured with published weights. Moneyta is not affiliated with or endorsed by the John C. Bogle Center for Financial Literacy.
- How is this different from the Moneyta Score?
- The Moneyta Score is Moneyta's own method and its weights stay private. The index-investor and MPT scores follow public methods, so every weight, cut-off and formula is published.
- Is a score a recommendation to buy or sell?
- No. Each score describes how a portfolio compares with a published method. It never says what to buy or sell, and the MPT score never shows an optimal mix.
